السالبية الكهربائية

فــي الكثــير مــن المــركبات تكــون الشحنــة السالبـــة لالكترونات التآصر مركزة بالقرب من ذرة معينة دون غيرها مما يؤثر بشكل كبير في الخواص الكيميائية للمركب وتعرف الكهرسلبية بانها قدرة الذرة على جذب الكترونات التآصر نحوها في اي مركب كيميائي وبما ان الفلور اعلى العناصر كهرسلبية فقد تم اعطاءه الرقم 4كقياس للكهرسلبية وحددت هذه القيم لباقي العناصر ً قياسا على كهرسلبية الفلور،

تزداد الكهرسلبية كلما زاد العدد الذري في الدورة مع وجود بعض الاستثناءات اما في الزمر فتقل كلما زاد العدد الذري.

وبالنسبة للغازات النبيلة فتعتبر شاذة لان بعضها لا يكون مركبات وبالتالي لا يمكن تعيين الكهرسلبية له لكن عندما ُيكون الغاز النبيل مركبات فيكون ذا كهرسلبية عالية ًجدا

تقيس السلبية الكهربائية ميل الذرة لسحب السحابة الإلكترونية في اتجاهها أثناء الترابط الكيميائي مع ذرة أخرى.

مقياس بولنغ هو طريقة مستخدمة على نطاق واسع لترتيب العناصر الكيميائية وفقًا لسريانها الكهربي. طور لينوس بولينج الفائز بجائزة نوبل هذا المقياس في عام 1932.
لا يتم حساب قيم السلبية الكهربائية ، على أساس صيغة رياضية أو قياس. إنها أشبه بمدى براغماتي.
